Sharon man was clown,enjoyed hunting, fishing

Michael J. Olshavsky of 315 Liberty St., Sharon, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 63. Mr.
Olshavsky was born June 1, 1947, in Sharon to Michael and Dorothy Plawky Olshavsky. He graduated in 1966 from Hickory High School in Hermitage. Currently Michael worked for Mercer School District in maintenance. He served in the Navy for four years during the Vietnam conflict. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a trustee for the Federation of Clubs, Mercer County; and belonged to American Legion Post 299, Sharon; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Shenango Valley Post 1338, Sharon, where he served on the Honor Guard. He was a Shriner of Crescent Shrine of Philadelphia where he was a clown with the name, “Hearts.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing bingo and going to sprint car races. He was an avid Steelers fan, but most of all, enjoyed being with family and friends. Whenever anyone needed help, he was always there for them. He will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Anne Ammon Castle, at home, whom he married Nov. 6, 2009. He also leaves: his mother, Hermitage; his daughter, Marie J. Pilon and her husband Jon Paul, Ephrata, Pa.; his son, Michael J. Olshavsky Jr. and his wife Pamela,
Newtown, Pa.; his sister, Judy Havrilla and her husband John, Hermitage; his stepsons, Jayson Castle and David “Rod” Castle, both Florida; stepdaughters, Tiffany Castle, also Florida; and Emily Castle, Idaho; his grandchildren, Cole, Mason and Chase Olshavsky; and Ian and Landon Pilon; 10 stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews, John Michael Havrilla, Mary D’Amore, Frank Policare, Grace Cass, Matthew Policare and Melissa Griffin; and sisters-in-law, Leah Policare and Lorraine Policare. He was preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Rosalie Policare Olshavsky, who passed away October 1997; and a stepson, Michael Castle.

5 to 7 p.m. today (4-27-11) in JOHN FLYNN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY Inc.,
2630 E. State St., Hermitage.

Service:
Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday (4-28-11) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Murcko, retired priest, officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by Sharon Honor Guard.

Burial:
Cremation followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
