Carolyn Eileen Shank, 521 Delaware Road, Fredonia, passed away at 8:20 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, after losing her brief battle against cancer. She was 72. Mrs. Shank was born March 11, 1938, in Marion, Ohio, to Charles and Lucille Theado Brown. Carolyn graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio. A homemaker, she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer. Carolyn was known to her family and friends as “Grandma.” She loved to do crafts, make jewelry, read and collect Panda figurines, but most of all, loved being with her family. Surviving are: her former husband, Leon L. Shank, Monroeville, Pa.; two daughters, Laura L. Ryland and her husband D. Paul, Stoneboro; and Carolyn E. Gerrity, Fredonia; a son, Charles C. Shank and his wife Barbara, Indonesia; a sister, Dorothy Brown and her husband William, Ohio; a brother, John Brown, Toledo; her grandchildren, Christyna and her fiancé Jordan; and Rachel, Curtis and Rebekah; and her great-grandchildren, Kiara Brown and Cali Marie Henretty. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen M. and James T. Gerrity; a brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Jeannie Brown; a great-grandson, Ethan Paul Ryland; and a sister-in-law, Flora Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 3208 B Wilmington Road, Box 5037, New Castle, PA 16105.

Service:
Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-13-10) in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer, with the Rev. James J. Kennelley, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial:
