Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Svarny
Sharon man was salesman,inventory supervisor
Rudolph “Rudy” Svarny of Sharon passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday,
March 8,2010, in Beaver County Medical Center. He was 82. Mr. Svarny was born Dec.12, 1927, in Masury to Felix and Frances Karlic Swarney. Rudy attended
Brookfield High School. A retired salesman and inventory supervisor for Golden
Dawn Foods and the former Peter J. Schmitt, Wheatland, he also worked for
R.G.S. Groceries and Philadelphia Candies, both Sharon. Previously, he worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant. A Navy veteran, Mr. Svarny
served during World War II on Treasure Island, San Francisco. Rudy was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Knights of Columbus Council 684 and American Carpatho-Russian Citizens and Social Club, all Sharon; and the North Sharon
Fire Hall. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, traveling and going to casinos. Rudy was a very giving person who enjoyed life and entertaining people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. His wife, the former Evelyn Dorsey, whom he married Aug. 23, 1947, in St. Bernadette’s Church in Masury, survives at home. Also surviving are: two
daughters, Kathy Palazzo and her husband Rick, Clark; and Evelyn Wike and her husband William, Brookfield; three sons, Les Svarny and his wife Patti, Fredonia; Joe Svarny and his wife Mary, Masury; and Mark Svarny and his wife
Carol, Hermitage; his grandchildren, Carla Garrett, Cristine Palazzo, Beth Tompkins, Julie Reichard, Hannah Svarny, Kara Svarny, Zachary Wike, Melissa Lyons and Leah Svarny; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents; three sisters, Frances Kovack, Gen Haywood and Mildred Ward; two brothers, Joe and William Svarny; and two grandsons, Mark and Matthew Svarny.

Hermitage, with full military honors by
Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory
