WWII Army medic was Westinghouse retiree
James E. Jackson, Hermitage, died at 12:26 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, of natural causes. He was 93. He was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Hickory Township, a son of James A. and Mary S. (Minnick) Jackson. Mr. Jackson graduated with Hickory High School Class of 1935. He worked for 43 years at Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a wireman, retiring in 1979. Jim was a medic with the Army in the European Theater, serving with the 309th Infantry, 78th Lightning Division. He enjoyed walking in Buhl Farm park, Hermitage, every day since his retirement. Surviving are: his wife of 69 years, Flora (Kirkland) Jackson, whom he married Oct. 26, 1940, at home; a daughter, Linda Jones and her husband, Lawrence, of Moon Township; a son, Ron Jackson, of Hermitage; a brother, Glenn Jackson and his wife, Dorothy, of Hermitage; and grandchildren: Eric Jones and his wife, Andrea, of Moon Township; Michael Jones and his wife, Rita, of Atlanta; and Sean Jackson, Wes Jackson and Ashleigh Jackson, all of Mayville, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buhl Farm Capital Improvement Fund.

Service: A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (2-23-10) in the JOHN FLYNN FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Inc., chapel, with the Rev.
