Johanna Gracenin
German-born homemaker belonged to St. George’s
A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Johanna Gracenin, 1865 Lori Lane,
Hermitage. She died at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, after a brief illness. She was 82. Mrs. Gracenin was born
April 17, 1927, in Germany to the late Michael and Maria Katharina (Pawlowska)
Stachowiak. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, E l i s a b e t h
(Bruggemann) Stachowiak. A homemaker, she was a member of St. George Serbian
Orthodox Church, Hermitage. Johanna was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Farrell VFW, Farrell Moose Lodge, and the women’s club of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by: two sons, Daniel Gracenin and his wife Catherine; and Dietmar
Ackermann, all Hermitage; two sisters, Martha Neuen; and Elisabeth Weidtkamp and her husband Horst; a brother, Johan Stachowiak, all Germany; and twin granddaughters, Ella and Samantha Gracenin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Gracenin, whom she married June 21, 1965. He passed away Oct. 13, 2002.
